Ekiti Election Petition Tribunal now to sit in Abuja

Except there is a last minute change, the Ekiti State Election Petition Tribunal trying the petition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the victory of Governor Ayodele Fayose in the 21st June governorship election in the state has been relocated to Abuja

This is the latest info on the matter of relocation of sitting venue for the election petition tribunal according to Saturday Tribune.

Due to the crisis rocking the Ekiti State judiciary lately, the former governor of the state, Dr Kayode Fayemi had moved for the relocation of the election tribunal and the other court(s) hearing the eligibility of Ayodele Fayose, the incumbent governor to contest in the June 21 election. A group – E-11 instituted a case in May asking the Ekiti State High Court to declare that Fayose is ineligible because of his purported impeachment of 2006.

The court hearing the suit on the eligibility or otherwise of Fayose to contest in the June 21 election will however continue to sit at Ado-Ekiti being a state matter.
