Former Nigerian Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Malam Gidado Idris, GCON, has passed away. He died at the age 82.
Family sources say, he died on Friday at an Abuja hospital after a protracted illness.
Mallam Idris, who served Nigeria in different positions rose to the highest rank in the civil service before retiring in 1999.
Late Idris was a trusted aide to late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, who was the first premier of northern Nigeria.
He is expected to be buried today in compliance with Islamic rites.
