Image result for Ousman Badjie photosFreedomNewspaper reports that, unless Yahya Jammeh rescinds his decision, this medium can say that the Army Chief of Defense Staff, Major General Ousman Badjie, has been dismissed with immediate effect. Mr. Badjie, who was touring military barracks across the country, received his marching orders before close of business yesterday. He was informed while on tour that he has been fired.

Army Command sources said Badjie’s sacking came as a complete surprise to them. Jammeh was displeased with some comments made by Badjie during his tour, which necessitated his drastic action to let the army Chief go.

During his tour, Badjie, has been telling soldiers to be loyal to the status quo. He also advised communities to report any suspected rebel activities in their respective localities.

The news of CDS Badjie’s removal has not yet been made public. Perhaps, Yahya Jammeh is scouting for his replacement.

General Yankuba Drammeh, the Deputy CDS is in line for Badjie’s succession. He is second in command after Ousman Badjie. Mr. Drammeh used to be The Gambia envoy at the United Nations. (FreedomNewspaper)
