President Bola Tinubu has conferred the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on Microsoft co-founder and former richest man in the world, Bill Gates.
This is to recognize his long-standing efforts in improving health and education, and for poverty reduction in Nigeria and across Africa.
The award was presented to Gates during his recent visit to Nigeria, where he held high-level discussions with the President and key officials about advancing reforms in the country’s primary healthcare sector.
Gates visit also included participation in the Goalkeepers Nigeria event and meetings with scientists and innovators exploring the use of AI in healthcare delivery.
CFR is one of Nigeria’s highest civilian honours, reserved for individuals whose work has made significant contributions to national progress or elevated the country’s international reputation.
