An autopsy has reportedly revealed the cause of death for the late Nigerian Afrofuji artist who combined traditional Yoruba Fuji sounds with modern Afrobeats, Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy.
The Police Homicide Section was said to have carried out the examination, and the results were released last week, according to Daily Trust.
Police spokesperson (PPRO) DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the findings.
Autopsy result reveals what is believed to be the cause of Destiny Boy’s death.
The autopsy reportedly indicated that the singer’s body contained toxic levels of tramadol and its metabolites, as well as methamphetamine.
The report concluded that his death was caused by “aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the ingestion of these toxic substances.”
The official statement read: “The Consultant Anatomic Pathologist reported that toxicology results revealed harmful levels of tramadol and its metabolites, as well as methamphetamine, and opined that the cause of death was aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the ingestion of these toxic substances, with the date of death being 17/01/2026.”
