In a statement, Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has approved the appointment of CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new spokesperson Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force, just three months after the appointment of his predecessor, DCP Anthony Okon Placid.
The announcement was made on Friday by the outgoing Force Public Relations Officer, Placid, who described the new appointee as a highly experienced officer with strong expertise in public communication, intelligence management, operational policing, and institutional administration.
An indigene of Etinan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, CSP Iniedu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo.
The new FPRO has undergone several professional trainings in areas including investigative interviewing, cr!me scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis, according to the release.
Before his appointment, he served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint handling and led initiatives aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
He also previously held several key roles across different formations, including Public Relations Officer at the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State; Operations Officer at Maisandari Division in Yobe State; Area Crime Officer in Umuahia Area Command, Abia State; Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat; Second-in-Command of 50 PMF Squadron in Kubwa; and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room.
The statement added that the Inspector-General expressed confidence in Iniedu’s ability to strengthen the Force’s communication strategy and enhance engagement with the public in line with ongoing policing reforms.
Iniedu takes over from DCP Placid, who was appointed FPRO on March 8, 2026, whereby succeeding ACP Benjamin Hundeyin.
