The solemn burial, which took place after the Jana’iza (funeral prayer), marked the final farewell for the revered statesman who passed away in a London hospital on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 82.

Dignitaries who attended the ceremony included President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and a host of others, including 25 members of the Federal Executive Council, former heads of state, and regional leaders.

The remain of Buhari was lowered into the grave at exactly 5:50pm.

He was wrapped in the colour of the Nigerian flag, which was later removed from his body. A folded national flag was handed over to a member of his family.

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda and other Northwest governors were also present, alongside international figures from West Africa, reflecting Buhari’s enduring influence.
