Reporters and residents around Ward G3, Unit 002, State Senior Grammar School, Itolo, where he normally cast his vote, waited endlessly for the Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Fashola did not show up till voting and counting ended. His spokesman, Hakeem Bello, did not take phone calls put through Saturday evening, according to reports.

Fashola also was not visible ahead of the election to mobilise his constituents to vote for the All Progressives Congress, APC, as was the case when he served as Lagos Governor.

The Minister has stayed away from Lagos politics and official gatherings since his tenure ended in 2015.

However, former Lagos Governor and national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, voted at his Polling Unit 047, Sunday Adigun Street, Alausa, Ikeja, while Governor Ambode voted at his polling unit in Epe.

Octogenarian and first Civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, also voted, defying the rain.

It will be recalled that Fashola was conspicuously absent at the Lagos at 50 event organised by the Akinwunmi Ambode administration.

The celebration was attended by all former Lagos governors including Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
