President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial nominee, Mr Abbas Lawal Balarabe, who replaced former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, suddenly slumped in the Senate Chamber during screening.

The nominee is former Secretary to the Government of Kaduna State.

Balarabe had chaired a 65-man transition committee ahead of the swearing-in of Senator Uba Sani, as governor of Kaduna State on May 29.

He  also headed the transition committee of the state in 2015 and served as the vice-chairman of the committee in 2019.

Balarabe had just finished his presentation to the lawmakers and slumped while one of the Kaduna senators was praising him.

Then, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, started to scream, “Bring water and sugar. Call Dr Musa.”

Akpabio then immediately called for a closed-door session.
