Nigerians have been warned by Primate Elijah Ayodele, not to allow rice being distributed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to influence their votes, saying accepting the food item should not be seen as a reason to support the party at the polls.

The clergyman stated that the current level of hardship should not be taken as the worst Nigerians will experience. He said tougher times could still lie ahead and urged people to look beyond the immediate relief that food distribution may provide.

Primate Ayodele said Nigerians should be careful about accepting the rice, linking it to what he described as deeper economic and social difficulties that may follow.

In a statement shared on his X handle, he wrote: “Real Hunger is still coming to Nigeria, you’ve not seen anything, APC have brought hunger to Kpa! Nigerians. The rice you’re collecting from them will bring more hunger, depression and troubles. Stop collecting rice.”

His warning comes as many Nigerians continue to deal with the high cost of food and other basic needs, with households facing pressure to stretch their incomes further.
