The 68th Grammys Award was held in Los Angeles, California, United States on Sunday evening, celebrating the biggest music releases of the year across multiple genres.

Global music categories drew strong international attention, especially from Africa. The award for Best African Music Performance went to South African singer Tyla for Push 2 Start.

There were five Nigerian nominees which included Burna Boy with two nominations; Davido, Omah Lay, Ayra Starr, and Wizkid. In some of the songs, Davido featured Omah Lay, and Ayra Starr featured Wizkid, but none of the nominations secured a win.

South African singer and song writer, Tyla Laura Seethal, known as Tyla’s victory marked her second Grammy win and reinforced South Africa’s growing influence on the global pop and African music scene
