Family sources said the former Sultan died around 8:58 p.m. on Monday, November 14, at a private hospital in Abuja, after a protracted illness. He was aged 93.

“His body will be conveyed to Sokoto today for burial according to Islamic rites,” family sources said.

Alhaji Dasuki is survived by 27 children and many grand children.

The elder Dasuki died without seeing his son, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.), again following his over a year incarceration by the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

The younger Dasuki, who served as National Security Adviser (NSA) to immediate past president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, is accused of misappropriating over $2 billion arms purchase funds.

Though he denies the allegation and has been granted bail by a number of courts including ECOWAS Court has remained detained by the Buhari regime.

Like Sambo, the late senior Dasuki also had problems with a federal government and was dethroned at the height of his glory by the late dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha.

Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, in an early condolence message prayed to Allah to grant him eternal rest. He also prayed for Allah to grant the family, Sultanate Council, the people of Sokoto and indeed Nigeria the fortitude to bear the loss.
