7 suspected armed robbers remanded in prison custody

Seven suspected armed robbers have been ordered to be remanded in Ilesa prison custody for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery on the eve of last December Christmas.
The order was given by a Magistrate Court, sitting in Osogbo, on Monday.
The accused suspects include Olorunisomo Gbenga (21), Dada Ayomide (20), Yisa Mufutau (23), Adeoti Saheed (22), Rasheed Suleiman (20), Kehinde Olanrewaju (27) and Badmus Kayode (21).
According to Nigerian Tribune, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Mustapha Tajudeen told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on the 31st of December, 2017 around 2.30 am in Osogbo, capital of Osun State.
According to Tajudeen, the suspects conspired among themselves to rob one Azeez Waheed, Adedeji Rilwan, Giwa Olalade Fagbemi Isaac of valuable items, including a Blackberry phone, Android phone, power bank, Infinix phone, ATM cards and a cash sum of N25,000, among others.
They were said to have armed themselves with weapons such as guns, cutlasses and other dangerous items on the day of the incident.
The Police Prosecutor further hinted that the offences committed by the suspects contravened Sections 1 (1),  (2) (a) (b) punishable under section 1 (1) of robbery and firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R 1, Volume 14 Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004
However, the pleas of the accused were not taken in the court, but they were facing a 6-count charge, bothering on robbery, conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms, among others.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Fatimo Sodamade ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody, considering the magnitude of the offences committed, just as she adjourned the case to March 28, 2018, for mentioning. (Tori)
