Ajaokuta 110mw Power Plant Ready For Use

The rehabilitation of Thermal plant belonging the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL) has been completed and would be ready for operation in two weeks’ time.

The Sole Administrator of company, Engr. Isah Joseph Onobere, made the disclosure Friday, when the management of 3D Hitech System Limited visited the company.

Ajaokuta Steel plant had in May this year signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 3D Hitech System Ltd for the rehabilitation of its 110MW Thermal Power Plant.

After overcoming the initial challenge, Onobere said his team has commenced the process of final testing of the facility with a view to commencing operation.

He indicated that various sections of the plant where MOU were signed would be put to use by the end of the year.

Earlier, the Chairman, 3D Hitech System, Chief James Jephthah, said the work of his company in the MOU was to rehabilitate the Thermal Power Plant of the steel plant so that it can be energized for power generation.

He said they have achieved 95 percent rehabilitation of the power plant and that the plant would be commissioned in two weeks time to boost power generation in the country.

“The power plant is 110MW and the nation need about 10,000MW while we are currently running 4000MW and we have just signed another MOU to construct another 500MW here in Ajaokuta.

The steel plant, which has five MOUs currently running concurrently, will be operated under Public Private Partnership (PPP).
