Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp filed a formal complaint against Google with the European Union, arguing that the tech giant maintains its own dominance in news searches by copying competitors’ Web content.
News Corp asserted that Google copies from publishers to display results. If publishers say they don’t want their content copied, Google reportedly just doesn’t show their article in results at all. The European Commission is also independently investigating allegations that Google copies rival Web content, known in the industry as “scraping.”
