Sunday Punch reports, that, Magu made desperate efforts to see Buhari after the Senate’s refusal, but every such effort yielded nothing.

It is understood that Magu, who reportedly does not see eye-to-eye with some of the President’s cabinet, also made an attempt to see the President on Saturday. This was confirmed by the newspaper’s sources, who claimed he was at the Presidential Villa around 6.30pm on Friday.

He was conspicuously missing at Zahra Buhari’s wedding to Ahmed Indimi. But other heads of security agencies including the former EFCC chairman, Nuhu Ribadu, were in attendance.

However, Magu has reportedly written a letter to Buhari defending himself and a source says it would be delivered to the President this week. It is also gathered that Magu had planned to issue a statement through the agency responding to the DSS allegations, but changed his mind.

On Thursday, the lawmakers stated that their decision, was based on a security report from the Department of State Service (DSS), which accused Magu of corruption and abuse of office.

The DSS report concluded: “Magu has failed the integrity test and will eventually constitute a liability to the anti-corruption drive of the present administration.”
