“It’s the wedding of the year”- Guests
The idyllic city of Beirut, Lebanon, once again opened its bowels to the crème of Nigerian society. It was the wedding of Ajibola Ajimobi to her heartthrob, Ajibola Ajayi. And these are indeed precious times for the couple; their wedding unfolded like a red carpet, rolling out smoothly far from ancient city of Ibadan, Nigeria, to the grand boulevards and palatial pleasure domes of Lebanon.

Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the governor of the good and law-abiding citizen of Oyo state, made available his vast wealth and contacts to make his daughter’s journey into matrimony a worthwhile, classy and beautiful experience. Though a small gathering, the wedding had in excess the components of an elaborate Nigerian party. The crowd was select and classy. The ambience was celestial in its pink and gold draperies. The drinks were vintage and in effusive supply. And the music was so good that even the governor could not help but hit the dance floor. Ajibola and Ajayi began their marital rites weeks ago with a mouth-watering engagement ceremony at Ibadan that had several high profile politicians and businessmen in attendance.

The wedding ceremony in Lebanon, no doubt, will be remembered as one of the most memorable wedding ceremonies to be hosted in the city of Beirut and within the circuits of Nigeria’s high society in Lebanon. And so the bride and bridegroom kissed and started a lively, tender life. It was the kind of life that blossomed like a truth universally acknowledged and treasured by only the pure at heart.

Bride and groom beamed majestically, with content. Their heartfelt dreams had finally come true; they were bound by swathes of bliss, two simple vows and a grand matchless love – which makes them one of the happiest couples of their time. And the wedding was unarguably arranged like an official state occasion, which gave the two families the bragging rights to one of the most memorable shindigs of the year.

However, TheCapital investigations in the state revealed widespread dissatisfaction among the citizenry over the governor’s action; although while many fault the governor’s seeming insensitivity to their plight, a school of opinion argues that since the governor was unarguably wealthy before he assumed office, it would be unfair for anyone to expect him to live below his means as a father, husband, and upstanding member of the economic and sociopolitical high societies. Amid widespread denunciation about the governor’s recent exploits, the citizenry of Oyo State are hoping he would live up to the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s campaign promises and actually provide them a humane, progressive, prudent and people-centred governance.
