When he showed concern about salaries not paid in the state of Osun and participated in donating trailer load of rice in Osun state,Some berated him, particularly members of my party Apc calling him an opportunist, Then he decided to patronize the made in Nigeria car by buying innoson some still called him an attention seeker. Then he decided to launch his buy Nigeria project and some said his business had a lot of foreign contents and he was being hypocritical!
Then he has been making very reasonable anti corruption statements stating that corrupt public officers should be executed, yet some people found it difficult to praise and acknowledge him but rather kept mute.
The man with the uncanny resemblance to Obama, president of the United States has now been bold and truthful enough to present the man of the year silver bird award to Ashiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu. The Jagabang borgu. Who belongs to a different party to that of the man in question. Ashiwaju is APC personified the man in question is PDP!!
To me if or when Saraki falls, and PDP is also in the race for the Senate president, he is surely one of my candidates from that party. I now don’t believe in zoning for this purpose nor do I believe the fact that he is a first time senator. Most of the two term senators have functioned in a climate of corruption anyway and it may be difficult for them to function in a climate of transparency.
How big a skeleton does this man from the south south have in his wardrobe anyway? To me he has worked hard for his money and put in a good shift in the private sector. I believe this man has the capability of surprising people and may understand the anti corruption drive and other policies of the executive. I believe in merit above zoning in this particular instance.
There is no point the replacement of Saraki being a slow and semi illiterate man in the name of zoning. I know some outside forces may be tempted to play ancient politics and try to foist a medieval thinking lackey as senate president. There is even no point the replacement of Saraki being a lackey to anybody because there is still the doctrine of separation of power.
If not for the skeletons Saraki has and the way he became senate president, he is intelligent has the pedigree and has what the young, present and possibly future Nigerians call “swagger” It should not be a tall order to present him from the PDP side for there is precedence from senator Akpabio being the Senate minority leader despite he being a first time senator.
In as much as I desire for an APC senator to emerge as the senate president, I am a realist. The way the senators have stood with Saraki tells me something. That if Saraki falls they may be tempted to take their pound of flesh and vote in a PDP senate president regardless of the fact that APC is in the majority, for Saraki is liked by senators generally both serving and former senators!!
The man I’m referring to is senator Ben Murray-Bruce!!
If his time does not come now his time will come later.
