Immediate past Minister of Environment, Mrs. Laurentia Laraba Mallam, and her husband, Mr. Pius Mallam, have been kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja express way, reports from Kaduna said.
The reports said that they were abducted at Bwari/Jere axis on Monday evening.
A Daily Trust report quoted the Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Aliyu Usman, as confirming that the couple were taken away by the kidnappers while the driver was spared.
“He assured that all hands are on deck to ensure their release and the perpetrators are brought to face the full draft of the law,” the report said.
“He noted that information gathered is sketchy and will prepare a detailed account of what happened to the media soon,” it added.
The kidnappers have reportedly contacted the Mallam family to demand for N10 million as ransom to secure their release.
