President Mohammadu Buhari, while addressing the press at the G-7 event in Germany, referred to
the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel as President Michelle of West Germany in a video posted on YouTube by reportaafrique.tv.
If one may recall, this is not the first time President Buhari would be making major gaffe on television. He had during the campaign while granting an interview with an international medium organization, referred to the All Progressive Congress, APC, as All Progressive Confidence. He had equally called his then running mate, Professor Yemi Osibande instead of Yemi Osinbajo.
Buhari had also referred to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as Independent Nigeria Electoral Commission.
The recent blunder in Germany has led to serious reactions and what analysts describe as a major “international embarrassment.”
