Buhari continues to marginalise the South in his appointments, says Fani-Kayode

According to Punch, a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of marginalising the southern part of the country in his appointments.

Fani-Kayode was reacting to the appointment of Mr. Mustafa Magu as the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

No southerner has headed the EFCC since its inception in 2003.

It will be recalled that the President sacked the Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, on Monday.

But, in a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle on Monday, Fani-Kayode said he wondered why Buhari has continued to be insensitive to the South.

The former minister said many southerners were capable of occupying the EFCC chairmanship position.

He said, “Yet another northerner has been appointed to head the EFCC. Is it that southerners are incapable? Buhari is insensitive to the South.”

On the jubilation that greeted last Saturday’s verdict of the Taraba State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal which declared Aisha Al-Hassan as the duly elected governor of the state, Fani-Kayode said Nigeria would soon become a one-party state.

“The outcome of the Taraba Election Petitions Tribunal does not surprise me. Get ready for more. We are heading for a one-party police state. Nigerians wanted change so they should enjoy it,” he said.
