Investigations by News Express revealed that following the doctor’s refusal to vacate the apartment after three years of non-payment of rent, the landlord obtained a court order which empowered him to remove her property. It was gathered that the doctor, who is still single, was out of town on the day of the eviction.

It was in the process of trying to remove the personal belongings of the woman that the horrifying discovery of all manner of charms and fetish objects was made in a wardrobe in one of the rooms. Also found in the wardrobe were photos of young men and a prominent politician in the state.

When the charms were uncovered, people took to their heels in fear even while cursing under their noses. Even the people that came to do the evacuation took off but some of the people that gathered there immediately sought the help of the Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in the area, Rev. Fr. Fabian Anumba, who later came and prayed over the charms to nullify the dark powers believed to be embedded in them.

In a chat with News Express, Fr. Anumba recalled how the incident happened. He said that a female chorister in the church ran to him to inform him about the incident, prompting him to go to the place – only to behold the terrible sight.

He said: “When I came to the house, I could not see the court bailiff and those who came to remove her property.

But I went in and prayed and destroyed the power in the charms. That house is a dark house. I saw many charms there, including a pot filled with blood, but I don’t know if it is human blood or not. I saw Ghana-must-go bags; I saw pictures of young men on the wall with something marked on them. I saw many kinds of charms; I also saw the statue of our Lady and a Rosary in the parlour, plus Catholic and Anglican Bibles, while the room contained charms.”

The Rev. Fr. disclosed how those who knew the woman perceived her as a good person but said no one was ever allowed into her house, except close friends.

“They told me how the woman once threw a lavish party for kids and how she used to cook food for someone’s father. The woman is also said to be a lesbian and was married to a girl with whom she later fell out after someone prayed for the girl. The woman then asked the girl to refund all that she spent on her before she could leave,” Fr. Anumba said.

He advised young men to be wary of the kind of women they associate with, especially the so-called rich ladies. He thanked God for exposing the woman.

One of the woman’s neighbours, who pleaded anonymity, said she used to wonder why she was yet to get married because of her kind heart, adding: “I never knew she was a lesbian.”

“She used to hang around my shop most often, whenever she was around, because she hardly stayed here. We would gist and talk about all manner of things but each time I brought up the idea of visiting her home, she rebuffed it, saying she hardly stayed at home. I was really surprised the day those scary charms were found in her house,” the woman stated.

The woman, whose property was taken away by the bailiff and police, is yet to be seen around Umueze village since she travelled. Nobody could give account of where she currently is. (News Express)
