Chuck Feeney gave away $7.5 billion in the service of humanity

Chuck Feeney is a billionaire who made his wealth in a duty free business concern. The man who inspired Bill Gate and Warren Buffet in the service of giving started donating his money in 1984. This billionaire did his philanthropy works secretly for 15 years and has given away grants to the tune of $7.5 billion as at 2013.

Feeney, now 83 is a simple and moderate person. He wears $15 wrist watch and travels in economy. He wears tattered dresses and compelled his children to work while going through college. He made them to work as maids, waiters and cashiers while in college. He has given away most of his fortune to fund education, health and human rights causes through his foundation – Atlantic Philanthropy.

Chuck Feeney is not a loud person and so was not known to be doing philanthropy works until 1997. He has inspired many other wealthy persons to give while still alive and this has attracted many rich people to pledge to give away half of their wealth. He is happy to use his money for the service of the needy than putting it in a bank account. He actually wants the last check he writes to bounce.
