Council of Ekiti Leaders of Thought sues for peace between the Government and the opposition.

The Council of Ekiti Leaders of thoughts (the Council) finds the current political development in Ekiti State very disturbing and sues for peace between the government of Governor Ayo Fayose and the opposition as the state cannot achieve any meaningful development in the mist of chaos and acrimony. The attitude of my way or the highway will not do our state any good; common interest of the society must be given top considerations at all times.

The Council calls on the Governor not to be distracted from his promise and commitment to bringing government closer to the people while pursuing his developmental agenda. Its pertinent we have to take this position at this critical moment in the interest of the State. Our decision not to dabble into partisan politics is golden, but for evil to triumph in a society is for the good men to fold their arms. Due to  conflicting stories about the debacle in Ekiti State House of Assembly, the council refrains from taking side. However, we appeal to all the royal fathers in Ekiti State to enjoin the Hon. Members from their domain, to please give peace a chance and put the interest of moving Ekiti forward above pettiness and personal interests. We further appeal to all the Honourable members to passionately discharge their duties with decorum, maturity and due sense of responsibility.

It is imperative that the due process is followed, at all times and where there are grievances, redress should be sought through the legal means. This is the only way we can develop our nascent democracy.  This  appeal is crucial at the moment to avert any breakdown of law and order in our homogeneous society. We pray there won’t be any war in Ekitiland. On another development, the Council commends Governor Fayose for his decision to allow the Vice Chancellor and Provost of College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, respectively, complete their tenure despite the fact that they were appointed by his predecessor in office.

This is a display of maturity and great understanding that we  can not afford to play politics with our educational institutions.  We believe that the Governor’s decision will serve as an impetus for the leadership of these institutions to remain focus and discharge their duties to the best of their abilities. We support all the initiatives of Governor Ayodele Fayose to move Ekiti Forward. God bless Ekiti State.

Signed: Asiwaju Oludotun Adetunberu Secretary, Ekiti Leaders of Thoughts
