brigadier-kuti According to reports, the authorities of the Nigerian military have arrested Brigadier General Enitan Ransome-Kuti, (son of the late Human rights activist, Dr Beko Ransome-Kuti and nephew to the late Afro beat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti), his Chief of Staff, Lt Colonel G.A. Suru and other senior officers over their failure to repel Boko Haram attack on the multinational headquarters in Baga.
Others arrested are the Commanding Officers of 134 and 174 battalions including Lt. Colonel Haruna and Major Aliyu.
General Olukolade speaking on the arrests said that the officers involved were being investigated because at the time of the attack, they had assured headquarters that they were fully in charge of the military formation.
The General said, “It was disappointing that the attack on Baga, was not repelled by both battalions, despite having the necessary weapons to carry out the necessary operations”.
Reports say the troops were warned to be on alert following intelligence information that the terrorists would strike.
Many civilians living in the barracks were reported as killed during the attack of January 3 by the Boko Haram militants.
