Ekiti Head of Service Congratulates New NLC Leadership

Dr. Peter Olugbenga Faseluka. ( Head of Service, Ekiti State. )The Head of Service of Ekiti State, Dr. olugbenga Faseluka has congratulated the State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on the success of it just concluded congress which produced a new leadership chaired by Comrade Raymond Ade-Adesanmi of the Medical and Health Workers Union (MHWU).

Congratulating the labor Union on the rancour-free election which was held in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, the Head of Service said the State chapter of the NLC has demonstrated maturity in the manner in which the election was conducted.

Faseluka commended the outgoing executive led by Comrade Ayodeji Aluko for maintaining a cordial relationship between government and the labour Union; saying that the union had always resorted to dialogue in pressing home their demands.

The Head of Service urged the new leadership of the Union under Comrade Adesanmi to also embrace the spirit of collective bargaining which is a veritable hallmark for harmonious industrial relations.

He stressed that the realities of the precarious economic situation in the State dictate the involvement of all if the challenges are to be surmounted.

While assuring that the Fayose-led government was irrevocably committed to prioritising the welfare of workers, Dr Faseluka noted that the labour union should be mindful of the present economic reality of the country which also affects the State whenever they press home their demands.

He emphasised that all hands must be on deck for the progress and development of the State even as he described workers as implementers of government policies ad programmes.

On the election, the Head of service urged the losers to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship while the winners should be magnanimous in victory so that the union would remain one indivisible body that can effectively canvass the agitation of Ekiti workers.

He commended them for not organizing parallel congresses as witnessed in some states of the federation.

In another related development, the newly elected executive council of the union has paid a visit to the Head of Service as a step towards officially introducing themselves to the Government of the State.

The chairman of the Union, Comrade Ade-Adesanmi assured that the Union would partner with the state government by implementing government policies and programmes that would effectively affect Ekiti workers and the citizenry.

Ade-Adesanmi who is currently the chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union in the State said the labour would continue the cordial relations between it and the government and would always resort to dialogue on all labour-related matters.

The new exco include Comrade Akosile Kayode (1st Vice chairman), Adeniyi Olugbenga (2nd vice chairman), Oyesiji Sunday (Treasurer), Afolayan M.O and Oladipupo Johnson as Auditors while Akinola E.F and Patrick Olayemi are ex-officio of the Union.
