Ezekwesili hits Buhari, Osinbajo over the killing of female Corps member by SARS

Former Nigerian Minister of Education, Ms Oby Ezekwesili, has spoken about the killing of Linda Angela Igwetu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), by an operative of SARS.

The female Corps member was allegedly shot dead, Wednesday, in Abuja by a SARS officer identified as Benjamin Peters.

Late Linda Igwetu, who was billed to pass out of NYSC today, Thursday, was said to have gone out with her friends as part of the celebration for the completion of her one year service when the trigger-happy policeman shot her.

She was said to have sustained gunshot injury and was rushed to Garki hospital but the hospital allegedly could not treat her, citing the absence of police report authorizing them to treat her gunshot wound.

Speaking on her death, the co-convener of BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) advocacy group said Igwetu’s death was “one too many.”

In a series of tweets, the former Minister and activist wondered what President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo were waiting for before ending “this scourge.”
Ezekwesili wrote: “I am tired. Loss of Miss Linda Nkechi Igwetu – on National Youth Service in Abuja- is one death too many, perpetrated by policemen of .@PoliceNG .

“I do not know what .@AsoRock @NGRPresident @MBuhari and @ProfOsinbajo are waiting for before ACTING to END THIS SCOURGE. WHAT?

“What do we say to Linda’s parents? What can we even say that makes any sense? Times like this, I find no word of comfort to speak. None.
A young Life wasted once again by trigger-happy policemen of @PoliceNG !

“@NGRPresident @MBuhari @ProfOsinbajo your YOUNG ARE DYING. DAILY.”
