Fayose is on his own over his presidential ambition – PDP Chairman, Makarfi

Image result for ahmed makarfiChairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has said that the present campaign mounted by Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State to vie for the 2019 Presidency is contrary to the decision of the party’s convention that zoned presidency to the North.

Makarfi stated this while addressing journalists in Kaduna

Makarfi said: “He (Fayose) is on his own. What he is doing is not in compliance with the position of the party. The party’s position has not changed.

“The convention has zoned the presidency to the North and the chairmanship of the party to the South.”

Makarfi also dismissed speculation that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar may be given an automatic ticket to contest the same position on the platform of the PDP if he finally decides to join the party before the 2019 general election.

It could be recalled that Governor Ayo Fayose said his decision to seek the PDP ticket to contest the 2019 presidential election against the Party’s zoning formula is without prejudice to our party’s position.

  1. Please, would someone make me understand this concept? That the PDP has zoned the presidency to the north…Wasn’t that supposed to be over in 4 years? Or does the zoning go on for 8 years?

If it is for the former, then, the north has received and achieved their agreed upon zoning; therefore, whatever region following that must follow.

If Mr. Markafi and his PDP rulers are waiting for Mr. Atiku to peddle back to PDP, what would happen if he doesn’t? What if his negotiations with the APC to contest on their platform succeeds, who then do you have to hang your coats on?

A word of advice for Mr. Markafi: if you are the party chairman…”shut up!” Let democracy reign supreme in your party…that means, let the candidates contest in primary election and whomever wins…Now Mr. Markafi, you still have your favorite candidate, just don’t say it at this point and publicly so you don’t prejudice the process.

I know that this is all fantasy on my part because Nigerians always do foolish things to serve their own agenda and not for the interest of the public or truth.

Brother Fayose…if you can muster enough support to challenge whatever stupid policies your party have, do it. Run!
