National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, who was hospitalised after he fell from a chair at the PDP national secretariat during a function, appeared in court on Wednesday for the continuation of his trail at the Federal High Court, Abuja, over allegations of money laundering and receiving N400 million from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
Trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, however adjourned further sitting in the trial to May 16 and 17 to enable Metuh receive proper Medicare at the National Hospital, Abuja.
Metuh’s lead counsel, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, had informed the court that his client was hospitalised at the intensive care unit of the National Hospital in Abuja, praying that the trial be suspended for at least two weeks.
“My Lord we humbly apply for an adjournment to enable the 1st defendant who is currently on intensive care to go for his medications. We had to compel him to be physically present in court this morning”, Ikpeazu submitted.
The EFCC lawyer, Slvanus Tahir did not oppose the application of the defence counsel.
“My Lord, the news is in the public domain that the 1st defendant is in intensive unit. We shall not be opposing the application”, Tahir said.
