People living in many communities in Ekiti State are raising alarm over worsening insecurity after a middle-aged woman was reportedly abducted and raped to death by suspected kidnappers in the Ajoni LCDA area.
The kidnappers demanded ₦1.5M, Canadian Loud, Cocaine, Mkpuru Mmiri, and Cartons of beer to release her corpse.
The villagers rallied, raised cash equivalent because they didn’t know how to get the drugs mentioned. Four brave men who went to deliver the cash, were siezed.
The kidnappers sent a message to the village asking for two virgin girls for their release, or they too will be killed.
Apparently, this has been going on for years in Ekiti, as the terrorists move freely and has cut off the communities access to water or hospitals, keeping them caged.
The development has sparked fear across nearby communities, with residents claiming that armed groups have been operating in the area for years with little intervention.
Six towns are under siege Itapaji, Iyemero, Oke-Ako, Irele, Ijowa and Ipao and according to locals, their political representatives; both senator and rep have not said a word, instead they’re sending condolence messages.
According to residents, the attackers move freely around the region and have disrupted access to basic services such as water sources and healthcare facilities.
The community warned that if it continues, it could become a genocide and they’d be forced to retaliate. They’ve called on the President to look into the matter.
Socio-political organisation, Afenifere has confirmed this story and also called for immediate action. Because the terrorists are humans not spirits.
