•Mayweather lands a punch on McGregor during their fight Saturday. Mayweather won via stoppage. (GVeteran boxer, Floyd Mayweather Jr. produced a technical knockout win over UFC champion and first-time boxer, Conor McGregor on Saturday night.

It was a brave effort from the Irishman, but in the end Mayweather was just too good.

McGregor was barely able to punch back in the 9th round and by the 10th, referee Robert Byrd dived in to save McGregor from any more punishment.

The victory improved Mayweather’s record to 50-0, and allowed the typically defensive fighter to say farewell in thrilling fashion, in what he insisted was his last fight.

“I gave the fans what they wanted to see,” Mayweather said after the fight.

“I told them that I owed them for the Pacquiao fight. I must come straight ahead and give them a show.”

McGregor, on his part, said he felt the fight should have been allowed to continue – “Let me go down. Let him put me down,” he said – but he seemed pleased by what he accomplished.

He also said “of course” he would return to the UFC.

  1. I watched all the 10 rounds of this superior boxing bouts. Clearly, McGregor tried his best but the indefatigable, smart and classical ring master, Floyd Mayweather Jr., was on top of his game and he was no match for McGregor. The fight was over in round seven when McGregor appeared worn out and was breading very hard from his mouth.

I hope that Mayweather Jr. will retire for good in order to save his unblemished record of 50-0 else he will be like Ali, and Holmes.
