National Human Rights Commission to prosecute political hate campaigners

Uncategorized

The National Human Rights Commission says it will prosecute any politician who engages in hate speeches ahead of the February election. They said they will also indict politicians who incite their supporters to violence through hate speeches. The NHRC said they are already compiling hate speeches and those who have prima facie cases established against them will be made to face the law.  The Director, Monitoring of the NHRC, Mr Tony Ojukwu said the NHRC is keeping records of names of some politicians making inciting comments through various media platforms and even on social media and in due course, they will be prosecuted.

“We are keeping the records of all comments being made during campaigns both on the electronic and print media and also on social media” he said. (Source and Photo: LIB).
