The embattled Supreme Court judge, Justice Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta was on Monday arraigned by the Federal Government.

The 65-year-old judge entered a not guilty plea to the 16-counts charge of money laundering, breach of professional ethics and forgery leveled against him.

The matter had to be stood down for two hours to take his bail application.

Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, who is appearing before Justice John Tshoho at a Federal High Court in Abuja, was one of the judges arrested after a DSS raid on the homes of High Court and Supreme Court judges across the country several weeks back.

Ngwuta had petitioned the National Judicial Council, stating that he was being persecuted apparently for his refusal to set aside the Ekiti State governorship election at the instance of Honourable Chibuike Amaechi, the present Minister for Transport.
