Nigeria’s EFCC detains former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu

Image result for Babangida Aliyu photoNigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained immediate past governor of Niger State; Dr. Babangida Aliyu, reports from Abuja said.

The former governor was said to have been taken into custody on Tuesday after he turned up at EFCC headquarters in the Nigerian capital around 10:00 a.m. in keeping with an invitation by the anti-graft agency.

Aliyu, who prided himself as Chief Servant of Niger State during his eight years in power, is reportedly being quizzed over the whereabouts of the sum of N3.6 billion which his administration realised from the sale of 16 out of its 26 percent stakeholding in North South Power Ltd and the N2 billion Ecological Fund it received from the Presidency shortly befoe leaving office in 2015.
