Immediate immediate past Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has announced that she will be joining United States investment bank Lazard.

The Financial Times of London, which just broke the story, quoted Okonjo-Iweala, who is a former Managing Director of the World Bank, as disclosing that she’ll be joining Lazard’s sovereign advice division. It further quoted her as saying that at Lazard, she would advise countries on structuring their finances and dealing with debt issues.

Okonjo-Iweala also said she has been appointed chair-elect of the board of Bill and Melinda Gates’ Gavi the Vaccine, US.

“The two appointments I’m going to undertake embody a continuation of what I’ve tried to do in my career,” the globally acclaimed economist told the Financial Times.

“My work at Gavi will help me continue my work in strengthening institutions and building systems” to improve the health of children through immunisation, she said. (News Express)
