PDP wins all 23 seats announced in Delta LG Chairmanship elections

The Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, (DSIEC) has announced results of 23 out of the 25 Local Government areas in the Saturday local government council election, with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP winning all seats announced.

The results were announced at the DSIEC headquarters in Asaba. The many local government Returning Officers who took their turns to announce the results, reported that the election was widely contested for by all the political parties that fielded candidates for the polls.

Chairman of the Commission, Chief Mike Ogbodu said by-election would be held in Ughelli North and Ethiope East. The date of the by-election shall be Tuesday, January 9, 2018.

“Following the completion of collation and counting of results from the chairmanship and councillorship elections held last Saturday across the state, I wish to announce that the PDP won the chairmanship elections in 23 local government areas.

“Election in Ethiope East and Ughelli North were postponed due to reports of hostility that were deemed not suitable for the conduct of elections.

“However, the commission wishes to announce that chairmanship and councillorship elections in the two local councils will now hold on Tuesday, January 9, 2018,” Ogbodu said.
