Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of popular Juju and Highlife musician, Iyun Janet Ajilore, popularly known as St. Janet.

Her passing was announced on Sunday by publisher and socialite, Otunba Femi Davies, in a post shared on his Facebook page.

According to Davies, the veteran singer died on Saturday after a brief illness.

Announcing her death, he wrote: “St Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore), a popular Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician known for her vibrant live performances, energetic stage presence and socially unfiltered party tracks, is dead. She died after a brief illness on Saturday.”

Throughout her career, she became a familiar figure at social events and celebrations, captivating audiences with her lively stagecraft and party-themed songs that resonated with many music lovers.

Tributes have continued to pour in from fans, colleagues and admirers, many of whom since announcement, have described her as a talented entertainer whose music brought joy to countless people and occasions.
