See former Petroleum Minister, Alison-Madueke, then and now, in pictures (No Jest Pls)

madueke1Any human being must not rejoice or make jest of the misfortune or travail of another because it is very difficult to know what tomorrow has in stock for anyone. Nigerians seem not to have pity for public officials who later face difficult times because of the poverty stricken state that Nigeria has for a long time found itself.

Nigerians seem to have this kind of mindset now because of the lifestyle of opulence and arrogance of the tiny Nigerian public officials in the midst of the generality of Nigerians who live below the poverty line especially the University graduates who could not secure any meaningful employment for years after leaving school.

This platform has not brought out the above pictures, which show then and now, to make jest of Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, particularly at a time she is fighting a very tough battle to stay alive. It is just to show Nigeria’s current public office holders and those of the future to know that no condition is permanent. While we try to show this, we sincerely wish Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke the quickest recovery.

  1. Give to Caesar what’s Caesar’s and what’s God’s to God. We often loose our human principles and values when worldly affairs are allowed to override our human empathy. The speculations and allegations of corruptions fielded against Mrs. Madueke, while it has its validity has yet to be formally authenticated. As in many such scenarios, she is one of many who had been identified as treasury looters of Nigeria’s national wealth. What has become of many before her, or, many others currently being alleged for same?
The good that men do, follows after them, and so is the good.
It is only a matter of conscience that individual human admits to, let alone confesses to indiscriminate opportunism such as abuse of authority. Impropriety comes in several shapes and sizes, and so is Diezani’s circumstance. Some of us feel that gender is an inhibiting factor, but what has it got to do: we have a line of female office-holders who had been through same discredit, with successive administration, either covering up or placating the masses by applying a soft-fall for these individuals such as removal from such position. Such actions are not restricted to females, same go for males.
Diezani has been under a ‘double jeopardy’: public stigma and press trial. Above all, she has long-running life-taking health issues which no human would want to experience. You do not want to assimilate material concerns when you are 50/50% ambivalent that you will live to see tomorrow. She is certainly in position to exoneratively defend her position. She has been engrossed with taking ‘day-to-day’ at its stride.
Should we, the masses and the media, represent the voice and mindset of leadership to ‘persecute’ Mrs. Madueke?
I feel we should let her be, to live if the Creator so wishes, and not expedite or compound her current health situation. Let us be humane.
