68-year-old Kenyan Interior Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Joseph Nkaissery, is dead, a top government official announced in a statement on Saturday.
According to APA, he died on Saturday morning a few hours after he was admitted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi for a medical check-up.
In a statement, the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Mr. Joseph Kinyua, announced the sudden demise of the Retired General Joseph Nkaissery.
However, the cause of his death has not been disclosed. According to reports, the minister collapsed in his Nairobi home late Friday evening and rushed to Karen hospital.
Addressing the nation on Saturday, President Uhuru Kenyatta said the nation has lost a true patriot and assured the country of enhanced security.
He named education minister, Fred Matiangi as the acting interior cabinet minister.
