Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, is mourning the loss of veteran and star actress, Madam Elizabeth Evoeme, popularly known as Ovularia, who passed away at the age of 81.
Ovularia, notably known for her iconic role as the wife of Chief Zebrudaya Okoroigwe Nwogbo alias 4.30, in the 1980s and 1990s television series, ‘The New Masquerade,’ her demise has left a void in the hearts of her numerous fans and colleagues.
Born on December 1, 1942, Ovularia’s career spanned several years, and her legacy as a talented and dedicated thespian will be deeply missed.
There were rumors of her death in 2019, which were later debunked, her family has now confirmed her passing, surrounded by loved ones.
In a statement, the Evoeme Emekalam family expressed their gratitude to fans, friends, and colleagues for their support and requested privacy during this difficult time.
“We thank you all for your support and for respecting our privacy at this time. God bless you all, and may our dear Elizabeth ‘Ovularia’ Evoeme rest in perfect peace, now and always,” the statement read.
Evoeme’s iconic role as Ovularia in “The New Masquerade” remains etched in the memories of many, and her contribution to the Nigerian film industry will be forever celebrated.
