Tony Nwoye emerges Anambra APC governorship candidate; beats 10 others

•Anambra APC governorship frontrunner, Hon. Tony NwoyeSunday afternoon, Tony Nwoye emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 18, 2017 governorship election in Anambra State. News Express earlier reported that he had taken an unassailable lead in the vote count.

Nwoye polled 2,146 votes to beat 10 other contestants, including the second-placed Senator Andy Ubah, during the primary election held on Saturday at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.

The venue and the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, where the accreditation of delegates from the 21 local government areas of the state was held from noon yesterday, witnessed heavy presence of police and civil defence personnel deployed there to maintain law and order.

The primary election was supervised by a committee headed by Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima.
