Tragedy struck on Sunday at the Makurdi base of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) when a soldier shot and killed another soldier allegedly over love.
Witnesses told Sunday Sun correspondent that the soldier, an Aircraftman (ACM) Kalu had come home from night duty and on opening his door, met his girlfriend, Aircraftwoman (ACW) Oladipupo S.A in bed with another man, a civilian.
Sunday Sun informant who pleaded anonymity said in a feat of anger, Kalu who was holding a riffle wasted no time in pulling the trigger and shooting at Oladipupo point blank.
The source said he also tried to fire another shot at the randy man whose name was not immediately given but he escaped by the whiskers and raised an alarm which attracted people in the base to the scene.
When contacted, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Wing Commander Emmanuel Iheoma who confirmed the incident disclosed that it was a case between two soldiers.
“Air Craftsman (ACM) Kalu shot an Air Woman Aircraftswoman (ACW) Oladipupo at about 6:6am yesterday. She was referred to 161 NAF hospital, Makurdi from where she was referred to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) where she died.”
“Her corpse had been deposited at the 161 NAF hospital morgue and Kalu has since been detained at Air Provost squadron, NAF Base, Makurdi. Investigation is still ongoing at the moment.” (Sunday Sun)
