Nigeria Intervention Movement (NIM), led by Olisa Agbakoba SAN, has said it will determine the winner of the July 14 gubernatorial election in Ekiti state by engaging candidates and throwing its support behind a preferred candidate to be governor.

To this end, the movement has set up a committee headed by Prof. Anthony Kila, NIM national secretary, to work alongside the Ekiti state Coordinator, Mr Moses Jolayemi. Other members of the committee include: Mrs. Toyin Ajakaiye, Tope Agunbiade, Dr Thomas Ikubese, Ronnie Dikko, Foluke Daramola and Derin Oke.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, campaigning for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kayode Fayemi, in Ekiti state yesterday, described Ekiti as a state where change is necessary.

He urged the Ekiti electorates to get permanent voters card to effect the change required in the state.

In a statement, NIM said it is going to engage candidates from various parties with the cardinal points of NIM and the candidate that emerges most aligned with these cardinal points will be the candidate that will get the votes of NIM.

In the same vein, the NIM state coordinator, Jolayemi noted that the over 100,000 NIM members and supporters in the 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti are waiting to know which candidate’s programmes and philosophies best encapsulate the desires and aspirations of the people of the state.

He stated that the NIM will, in due course, announce a candidate based on merit after thorough, objective and non-partisan evaluation and assessment of the candidates in a transparent way, adding that the process is already ongoing.

We cannot continue the way we are doing things in this country. We are looking for people with real desire and ability to serve and not just to be served.”

“Starting from Ekiti and then to the whole of Nigeria, NIM is going to help citizens employ the right office holders in all spheres of government. So, it is safe to say we are going to employ the next governor for Ekiti and that we see such Governor as a CEO.”
