Nigeria’s presidential adviser on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, has dismissed claims that her principal is suffering from a critical medical condition.
Lauretta was on Friday morning responding to enquiries from twitter users about President Muhammadu Buhari’s health where she stated that the President has been thin from birth.
When asked why Buhari could not seek medical attention in Nigeria, Onochie stated that the president could not change the doctors he had been using for the past 30 years.
According to her, “Pres. Buhari has always been thin from birth. He is not suffering from anything alien that you may not suffer, if you ever get to his age.
She added “At his age, we don’t expect him to change doctors he has seen for close to thirty years when it’s hard for any man to change his barber.”
That he has been using foreign doctors for 30 years projects him as a hypocrite because he has, in the last 35 years, lampooned behaviors of this sort. His patronizing of foreign doctors and hospitals was excused on the ground that leaders who came after his previous tenure as head of state of Nigeria, squandered the resources of the nation, making it impossible to have functional hospitals of international standard. Now we are being told that he was using foreign doctors even when he was Head of state and preaching nationalism?
Those who speak for the president have to be smarter and better imaginative than this.
And who are the doctors that he has seen close to 30 years?
