Aisha Abubakar, wife of Bauchi State Governor, Muhammad A. Abubakar, has requested for the list of fifty Prison inmates with option of fines and compensation for immediate payment and their release.
Mrs. Abubakar said that she would settle such fines in the spirit of the festive period to enable the affected inmates to celebrate the yulitide with their families at home.
The Governor’s wife said that one her pet projects was assisting the inmates and the less privileged people in the state.
Aisha stated that the pet project; christened: The Brilliant Girl Child Initiative, is in tandem with Governor Abubakar’s people oriented programmes in Bauchi State.
Comptroller of Prisons, Bauchi State Command, CP Sulaiman Sulaiman, commended the Governor’s wife for her numerous interventions to Prisons in the state.
He said that Barrister Aisha had in 2016, paid fines and compensation to 42 inmates in the state.
According to him, the governor’s wife also enrolled the freed inmates into Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity for vocational training even as she provided them with vocational tools after graduation.
He assured the Governor’s wife that the list would be made available to her as soon as possible even as he prayed for the success of her husband’s tenure in office as executive Governor of Bauchi State.
