Senator Ahmad Sani Yarima, has been arraigned at a Federal High Court in Zamfara presided over by Justice Bello Muhammad Shinkafi for allegedly misappropriating N1 billion when he was governor of the Zamfara State.

He was arraigned yesterday by the Independent Corrupt Practice and Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which slammed him with a 19- count charge bordering on misappropriation of public funds.

Defence Counsel Mahmud Abubakar Magaji (SAN) applied for bail for the man who set a record as the first state governor in Nigeria to introduce and enforce strict Islamic Sharia law, starting with the amputation of a man who stole a cow.

Persuaded by the arguments of Yerima’s lawyer, Justice Shinkafi granted bail to the controversial politician in the sum of N100 million and two sureties who must have property worth N150 million in Gusau, the state capital, and one of whom must be a resident within Gusau town. (News Express)
