Uncategorized

Ademola Adeleke casting his vote during the Osun West bye-election.The results of Saturday’s by-election for the Osun West Senatorial District so far released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Ademola Adeleke, was in early lead. In Iwo, PDP scored 12,547 votes, while APC scored 12,205.

In Olaoluwa PDP also beat the APC candidate with 5,618 votes to 5,316.

APC was also beaten in Ayedire where it scored 5,360 votes to trial PDP which polled 5,789.

Although the official winner of the election was yet to be announced by the INEC as the time of filing this report, there was already jubilation within the metropolis among the teeming supporters of the PDP, giving rise to speculation that Adeleke might have won the election. It was jubilation galore in all the 10 local government areas that make up the senatorial district, as people were seen shouting PDP, Power from different directions.

The situation was somehow different within the camp of the APC candidate, Senator Mudashir Hussain, as tension filled the air, while the supporters of the APC were seeing trickling in with less enthusiasm from their respective polling units. Hussain hails from Ejigbo comprising Iwo, Awo,  Ogbaagba, among others.

The exercise was peaceful in almost all the polling units.

Some of the results so far released from different polling units across the 10 local governments areas as at the time of filing this report are:
