Court sends traditional ruler to prison over alleged kidnap

The Chief Magistrate sitting at Court 3 in Kaduna on Thursday morning remanded the Chief of Bugon of Kurama Chiefdom of Kaduna State, Dr. Damina, in prison custody for alleged kidnap, assault and criminal conspiracy.

The embattled Dr. Damina Kurmi was dragged to court along with three of his palace officials by the police.

They are being accused of kidnapping one Usman Ori in Yalwa village, Yar Kasuwa area of Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State in September 2016.

The accused had allegedly “arrested” Mr. Ori for an unknown offence and since then, his whereabouts have remained unknown.

Chief Magistrate Abudu l-Aziz Ibrahim remanded the suspects when the case came up for mention.

The case was adjourned to March 27, 2017 for further mention.
