Fayose Inaugurates Ekiti State’s New Assembly in Style

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, this morning, celebrated his survival of the 19 APC lawmakers’ impeachment moves against him by riding to the State House of Assembly in Ado Ekiti on an okada (commercial motorcycle) to inaugurate the new Assembly.

It ought not to surprise anybody that he rode to the assembly complex in the okada riders’ midst because they, along with ordinary Ekiti people gave him the power he is enjoying now. They also helped him to withstand the 19 lawmakers’ threat to impeach him.

Early in the afternoon, the people’s governor tweeted a photo of him as a passenger on an okada. He wrote in his twitter handle, @GovAyoFayose: “Riding on Okada to the House of Assembly to inaugurate the new members,”

The last few months have been a long journey for him until yesterday, when the life of the Seventh Assembly, partly dominated by 19 All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers, who vowed to impeach him, expired. On the other side of the 19 APC lawmakers were 7 decamped members who, as PDP lawmakers, have been working with Fayose since his inauguration as governor also until yesterday.

The new Assembly which has been inaugurated today is dominated by Fayose’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members. This means that his nightmare in the hands of the House especially since Buhari won the presidential election might as well be over.
