In a statement posted on Kwankwaso’s official page, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Kano State Governor, has announced the emergence of Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo as the Kano governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), ahead of the upcoming 2027 elections.
According to the statement, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna was also selected to contest for the Kano Central Senatorial seat under the party.
This decision was made in the spirit of equity, fairness, loyalty, and competence — values that remain central to our party and Kwankwasiyya’s progress and unity,” the statement read.
Kwankwaso also prayed for a peaceful and successful affirmation exercise, expressing optimism about the party’s chances in the coming elections.
Gwarzo is a close ally of Kwankwaso and served as Deputy Governor of Kano State under Governor Abba Yusuf before leaving office after the latter defected to APC.
